A Thank You & Moving Forward

Dear Friend,

First of all, let me just say: "thank you." Thank you for your support; thank you for taking action; thank you for helping to elect a new Republican Majority to Congress.

But now is not a time for celebration; it is a time to roll up our sleeves and get down to work. That's why I'm sending you these four items to help outline how a new Republican Majority will do things differently than those who've run Washington in the past:

>> ELECTION NIGHT REMARKS: On Tuesday night I said that the election results were a repudiation of Washington … a repudiation of Big Government … and a repudiation of politicians who refuse to listen to the people. [WATCH VIDEO]

>> PILLARS OF A NEW MAJORITY: Pillars of a New Majority pulls together five recent speeches on our culture of life, jobs and the economy, national security, Congressional reform, and a new way forward for our country. Each lends further context to our governing agenda and insight into the priorities that will guide our new Republican Majority. [READ MORE]

>> WHAT THE NEXT SPEAKER MUST DO: In an op-ed for today's Wall Street Journal, I list several steps the next Speaker of the House must take to restore the shattered bonds of trust between the American people and Congress. Among them: no earmarks, letting Americans read bills before they're brought to a vote, stopping the process of writing "comprehensive" thousand-page bills behind closed doors or in the Speaker's office, and more. [READ MORE]

>> PLEDGE TO AMERICA: Built through a process of listening to the American people, our Pledge to America is a governing agenda that will guide us throughout the 112th Congress. We'll fight to create new jobs, cut government spending, repeal ObamaCare and replace it with common-sense reforms, reform Congress, and more. [READ MORE]

I hope you will stay as engaged in the months ahead as you were before Election Day and I hope you'll encourage others to do the same. While the latest campaign season is behind us, the real work of governing is just beginning. And the only way we'll get the smaller, less costly, more accountable government we deserve is if concerned Americans stay active and involved.

Together we'll forge a new way forward in Washington that is built on listening and that reflects the priorities of the American people – an approach that hasn't been tried before by either party.

Thank you again for all of your support, and please stay in touch in the weeks and months ahead.
