#ROTD: MD-01 "Leans Republican" As Harris Engages in 2008 Rematch
The trillion-dollar "stimulus" spending bill that didn't work. The jobs-killing "cap and trade" national energy tax. Freshman Democrat Rep. Frank Kratovil voted for them both. And State Senator Andy Harris is going to make sure Kratovil's held accountable for these and the rest of his destructive voting record.
In a rematch of 2008's campaign in Maryland's 1st Congressional District, Harris is promoting his record of fighting for families and small businesses, and is highlighting better solutions for creating new jobs and boosting our economy. The rematch was highlighted in a recent "Race of the Day" profile by the NRCC:
|
"In 2008, Kratovil narrowly defeated Republican State Senator Andy Harris in the General Election for MD-01. Kratovil's victory was due in large part to the blank-slate nature of his candidacy and the political environment at the time, which leaned heavily Democrat. Even then, this was one of the closest congressional races of 2008. ... "This year, with the changing political climate, Kratovil's liberal record and battle-tested Republican candidate Andy Harris on the ballot again, Republicans have a clear path to victory on Election Day. ... [Harris] extensive medical background combined with a demonstrated dedication and selfless service to his country and community make him an excellent candidate to represent the First District of Maryland." |
A practicing physician, Harris understands the challenges facing patients and doctors alike, and is an ardent supporter of health care reforms that lower costs without expanding government. Watch Andy discuss real health care reform on Fox Business Network:
The Baltimore Sun says Harris is "running strong" against Kratovil and respected analyst Stuart Rothenberg says the race leans Republican.
