Desperate to Continue Spending, Washington Dems Ramp up Attacks on Political Opponents
In a classless attempt to shift the debate on the Obama Administration’s failed economic policies, top Democrats have taken to the airwaves in recent weeks to brand fellow Americans as ‘terrorists,’ ‘extremists,’ ‘hijackers,’ and ‘tyrants.”
But this isn’t the first time that the Obama Administration has sought to paint Americans who want to cut spending and reduce barriers to private-sector job creation as national “enemies.”
Last fall while traveling Ohio, Speaker John Boehner called out President Obama for referring to Tea Party conservatives as “enemies.” Video and excerpts are included below:
“The president was doing an interview the other day and he said this – he said on Election Day we're going to 'punish our enemies.' Those people who disagree with our policies are 'our enemies.' Now I can't hardly believe the president said this. You know, when President Bush, President Reagan, President Clinton, George W. Bush used the word 'enemies,' he was referring to global terrorists. … They were referring to dictators around the world who hate freedom and hate America. And for the president to use that word about people who oppose bigger government, people who are freedom loving and love our Constitution, I can tell you I find that very appalling. And so Mr. President, I've got a word for those people, those people who oppose your policies, those people who love our constitution, who love freedom, and love the principles that America was built on. You know what I call those people? Not 'enemies.' They're patriots."
Branding Tea Party members as “enemies” didn’t work so well in fall of 2010, and it won’t distract Americans from the true cause of today’s economic uncertainty – our government’s job-crushing spending binge.
Washington Democrats should stop the partisan attacks and start working with Republicans to cut spending, protect our critical health and retirement programs, and help get our economy back to creating jobs again.
