Boehner Stumping for GOP Candidates Across the Country

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) is crisscrossing the country in support of Republican candidates, campaigning to win a new majority in Congress that will renew the fight for a smaller, less costly, and more accountable government. Here are just some of the candidates with whom Boehner’s recently campaigned:

>> ANDY BARR (KY-6): "In front of a packed room at the Fayette County Republican Victory Office on Southland Drive, Boehner, with Barr at his side, said Central Kentuckians should elect Barr to stop the agenda of President Barack Obama and Pelosi. Boehner said he has made campaign stops in about 150 cities to try to elect Republicans to the House. ... 'The enthusiasm that I see in this room is the same kind of enthusiasm I have seen all year every place I've been,' Boehner said. ... Boehner said 'the American dream is under attack in Washington, D.C.' He criticized the federal stimulus bill, health care reform and cap-and-trade legislation dealing with carbon emissions from coal-powered plants." >> ALAN NUNNELEE (MS-1): "Boehner and Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., joined 1st District House candidate Nunnelee's 'Taking Back America: God and Country Bus Tour' at a stop in Southaven, where a crowd of about 100 cheered as the trio sounded familiar GOP campaign themes. 'The American dream is under siege today,' said Boehner, who is campaigning for several Republican candidates across the country. ... Boehner agreed the election is about future generations and ended his remarks with a story about congressional leaders, including himself, visiting the White House during the health care debate. 'The President said, 'Listen, we're not always going to agree, but that's what elections are for,' Boehner said. 'Well, Mr. President, you're right. This is what elections are for.'" >> MARTHA ROBY (AL-2): "Wednesday, Minority leader John Boehner was in Montgomery to support congressional candidate Martha Roby. A recognition Roby thinks voters will respond well too. 'They want to know that there is an individual out there who will step up and show real leadership and when it comes to representing this district, not just voting for this district, but fighting for this district, every single day,' said Roby." (Roby Receives Support from Minority Leader Boehner, WNCF TV, 10/22/10)

>> AUSTIN SCOTT (GA-8): "Speaking in Centerville tonight House Republican Minority leader John Boehner extolled the virtues of Robins Air Force Base saying he understands fully the importance of the base to Warner Robins and the state of Georgia as a whole. 'The American people expect to be listened to by the politicians in Washington and when you look at what’s happened over the last 22 months you can boil it down to just a couple of words, they haven't been listening. And when they're not listening,' he continued, 'they are disrespecting the views of the American people. That is what's going on and it is exactly why there are millions of Americans saying enough is enough.'" (Boehner Promises Scott Armed Services Committee seat if Elected, Warner Robins Patriot, 10/20/10)

>> ALLEN WEST (FL-22): "About 50 people were on hand for the breakfast meet-and-greet. Boehner’s visit emphasizes the national stakes in congressional District 22, where West is trying to unseat two-term Democratic U.S. Rep. Ron Klein. President Obama is raising money for Klein this afternoon at former Miami Heat star Alonzo Mourning’s house in Coral Gables. 'You’ve got incumbent Democrats who can’t talk about their record of voting for the stimulus bill or voting for cap-and-trade or voting for the health care bill, which cut $550 billion out of Medicare. So all they can do is go attack the Republican challenger,' Boehner said. If Republicans win control of the House, Boehner said, 'You’ll see us every single week move bills that will cut spending.'"
